There are few things in life that are as joyful and as satisfying as buying your dream condo - that special property that has everything you're looking for in a place to call home.  However, sometimes finding that right home is not so easy.

A good starting point is creating a Homebuyer's checklist - simply writing down all the things that are most important to you when choosing a new home.
If, like most people, you're buying a mississauga condo together with your spouse or another family member, this can be a particularly worthwhile exercise.  You may be surprised to learn that your partner has quite a different "wish list" than you do.  Make sure you're both in agreement on your criteria before you start viewing properties.
Once you've got your preliminary list prepared, sort the various features into "must have" items versus those that are 'preferred'.  For example, one of your priorities may be a large master bedroom.  The "must have" column would include a large master bedroom, since this is something you cannot change after you buy the condo.  Your 'preferred' column might include hardwood floors, or such added features as a gourmet kitchen, or upgraded lighting.  Sorting out your 'must have' list will help keep your home search focused in the right direction.
After you've prepared your Homebuyer's Checklist, your first stop should be reviewing it with your real estate professional.  Your salesperson can review your list and advise you whether your expectations are realistic for your price range, and also offer helpful suggestions you may not have considered.  Once your checklist is finalized, your real estate professional can preview potential properties, and set up appointments for you to view.
When you begin to actually view some Mississauga Condos, it can be extremely helpful if you make copies of your "wish list" and complete one for every unit you visit that you might consider making an offer on.  Start a new page with each property address and then check off which items on your wish list are present.  Leave room for comments next to each item as well as space to note other special features you see.  Believe it or not, you may be looking at several different properties before you're ready to make an offer and you may find yourself getting confused about which unit had which feature.  Was it the unit on the 17th floor at Elm Drive that had the Brazillian hardwood floors?
While choosing a Mississauga Condo is often as much a matter of the heart as it is a rational decision, keeping a checklist can help you evaluate whether a property's really right for you.  Or help determine what you'd have to spend to make it that way.
